ELAOC students have an exciting opportunity to attend two 1-hour parent trainings on the importance of nutrition and physical activity. This November and December training series is hosted by the Public Health Ambassador Program in partnership with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, Nutrition & Physical Activity Program. November's training covers nutrition's life-stage importance, influencing factors, and food equity advocacy. December focuses on budget-friendly shopping, accessing services, and promoting healthier neighborhood food options. Sessions in both English and Spanish. The Citizenship Clinic is open to LAUSD families and community members. Attendees will receive support filling out the N-400 citizenship application and be connected to legal resources. The Clinic will be held on November 23 from 9:00-1:00 p.m. at Roosevelt High School, 456 S Mathews St, Los Angeles, CA 90033(inside the cafeteria). The flyers provide the CalFresh Healthy Living FREE Produce Distribution Sites. If you are in immediate need of food assistance, please dial 2-1-1 from a phone and speak with someone about services available in your area (2-1-1 is a three-digit dialing code, similar to 4-1-1). Lines are open 24 hours a day. Most but not all areas provide 2-1-1 phone support.

ELAOC offers English classes and various options to learn and improve English language skills. We offer beginning, intermediate, and advanced level English classes in the morning, evenings, and Saturdays. The next trimester begins November 12, 2024. See the flyer for more information! The Every School Safe – Substance Abuse Awareness/ Fentanyl Training Module is intended for all ELAOC students, ACCT Parents of minors, and ACCT minor students. Click the presentation link to access the video. The video will also be archived under the Students Tab of the Home Page under Every School Safe Training Module.

Are you interested in a career as a Pharmacy Technician? ELAOC's the Pharmacy Tech. Instructor Ms. Meeru Sharma and Program Director Ms. Jaya George will be hosting a program orientation session on November 6, 2024, via ZOOM at 6:30 PM. Come and learn about the requirements and possibilities.

This message is to support the District's efforts to educate and inform LAUSD staff, parents, and students about the November 5, 2024, Election, including Measure US, the Local Public Schools Safety and Upgrades Bond Measure. Educational, non-advocacy information and materials (in English and Spanish) are available at lausd.org/vote2024. Additionally, the LAUSD website now includes a video on the importance of civic engagement, including voter registration. It features Superintendent Carvalho and Student Board Member Anely Cortez Lopez. Early voting for the November 5 Election is underway! Make sure your voice is heard!
